Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I see a pelvic floor physiotherapist?

The goal of pelvic floor physiotherapy is to prevent, manage, reduce, and resolve common pelvic floor conditions. Often, we are told that these types of issues are just a part of being pregnant, postpartum, and being a woman, though this is not the case.

At Elements Health, Jaspreet is trained in both pelvic health and orthopedics. This means she can assess how your pelvic floor muscles work together with the rest of your body.

What happens during an initial assessment?

During your assessment, your pelvic floor physiotherapist will be able to discuss and address your symptoms. If an internal pelvic floor exam is recommended for your symptoms and you consent to the exam, she will talk you through the entire physical pelvic floor exam. You are able to withdraw your consent at any time.

Is an internal pelvic floor exam required?

An internal pelvic exam is not mandatory but is the gold standard to assess how your pelvic floor muscles and connective tissue within the pelvis are working. An internal exam may be recommended to further investigate the symptoms you are describing.

Can I bring my baby or children to the appointment?

Yes, babies and children are welcome to attend your appointments.

How do I pay? Does extended health insurance cover pelvic floor physiotherapy?

If you have coverage for physiotherapy services, you’re covered for pelvic floor physiotherapy. We also provide direct billing services.
